During WIP Wednesday I may have mentioned that I was migrating my Etsy shop over to the blog here. Well…it’s well on it’s way. I have a few more things to add yet, and I will be continuously adding new items.
I really like the minimalist store theme…
The category and listing pages are also very clean.
Visually I like this much more than Etsy. I also don’t have to worry about other peoples stores (translated: competition) being put on my listings. It really allows more freedom for both me and visitors. The best part is, this is basically starting over, since I now know what I want to do with my store and the kinds of things I want to put in it. I am also not paying listing fees every month when something doesn’t sell. If you have a lot of stuff in your store, it adds up. I am also not giving up things like secure Paypal payments and instant downloads for people who purchase digital goods. Customers are still able to rate items as well.
It took me a good week to decide if this was the way I wanted to go, and now that I have spent a few days getting things set up, I am happy with my decision. New items will be going up in the store slowly, and I want to get new pictures of some of my other items (like the shark hat and bag). I think once the new items go up, there will be a little something for everyone. If there is something you would like to see in the store I am always open to suggestions.
The store can be accessed from the front page of the site via the Online Store button. The direct URL is http://stitchingyarns.us/webstore There is also going to be a site newsletter to let people know when new items have been added.
In the meantime, check out the store and tell me what you think. Do you like it or prefer Etsy more?
